Position Summary: The Commercial Credit Analysts will support The Bank of San Antonio’s commercial business plan by researching and calculating risks for complex commercial transactions such as granting businesses loans and extending lines of credit for equipment and other goods. Commercial Credit Analysts are required to be quantitative thinkers who are able to take into consideration a large number of variables in order to make evaluations. Works as part of a team and interacts with management, other departments, and clients; requiring good communication and interpersonal skills. Assist Relationship Managers with prospective clients as related to credit. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations, and laws within the Commercial Lending and Credit Analyst field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision, with a degree of creativity and latitude required. Ensures excellent internal and external client relations at all times.
Responsibilities and Duties: Analyze credit worthiness of all current and prospective business customers. Obtain, investigate, and analyze credit data, records, and spread financial statements. Confer with credit associations and other business representatives to exchange credit information. Provide in-depth written analysis of commercial credit requests. Recommend loan structuring. Prepare internal monthly reports that include the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Perform periodic reviews and risk ratings of existing borrowers and key vendors Ensure adherence to commercial loan policy standards, procedures, regulations, and laws. Ensure loan policy exceptions are documented and discussed appropriately in credit approval documents. Create, maintain, and organize credit files and perform a review of loan covenant compliance. Consult and communicate effectively with internal and external clients as necessary to resolve issues during the loan approval process. Demonstrate exemplary service and professionalism to clients and prospects when going with Relationship Managers on customer calls related to specific commercial loan requests. May identify cross-sell and referral opportunities. Desire to self-development by staying aware of current trends and new developments in the field of Commercial Lending, credit policy/procedures, regulations, and laws.
Education and Experience Qualifications: Requires Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on business/finance/economics; minimum three years experience underwriting commercial loan transactions. Three years plus experience with financial statements and credit analyst skills preferred. Prior experience in credit underwriting spreading software such as Moody’s Financial Analyst and Credit Quest.
