Portfolio Manager/Underwriter

The ideal candidate will be able to accomplish the functions of the position to ensure that all projects are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This will be done by preparing credit analysis for potential loan accounts and industry research while supporting the banking officers in making credit decisions, and monitoring loan files for adequate and current financial information and documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Underwrite commercial, CRE and personal loans for new and existing customers as assigned by Manager.
- Conduct research on the economic state of the industry in which the loan is being reviewed/renewed or approved. Research is to be included in the loan approval.
- Spread and interpret financial statements.
- Analyze personal and corporate tax returns.
- Prepare projections and review borrower’s ability to support debt.
- Review interim construction draws. Review line of credit advance requests.
- Prepare loan downgrades and charge offs.
- Attend weekly Senior Loan Committee and other loan committees meetings as scheduled.
- Attend bank luncheons and functions with other bank staff.
- Attend customer calls with loan officers.
- Prepare covenant compliance checks.
- Demonstrates professionalism, commitment to the job, and loyalty to the Bank.
- Keeps Bank and client information confidential.
- Ensure compliance with established credit policies and procedures, and business strategies as well as any applicable laws and regulatory guidelines.
- Complete and pass required training courses by due date. (i.e. Compliance Training)
- Manage projects as assigned by Manager.
- Other job related duties necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to read and understand complex materials.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management abilities.
- Proven problem recognition & resolution skills.
- Sound judgment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of intermediate accounting and its practical application in the credit underwriting process.
- Superior verbal and written communication, presentation, and technical skills, including the ability to effectively explain complex information.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Four year college degree or equivalent
- 3-5 years commercial bank credit underwriting/portfolio management experience
- Completion of a formal credit training program a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT:
HOURS: Monday – Friday; 8am – 5pm; Non-Remote
Some variation in work hours due to special projects and deadlines.
TRAVEL: Occasionally
