Description

Position Summary: The BSA/AML/Financial Crimes Investigator is responsible for conducting investigations to identify potentially suspicious financial and/or fraudulent activity, to include money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and/or any other financial risk or crime.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

§ Investigate and analyze the information to reasonably ensure customers’ BSA/USA PATRIOT Act/OFAC compliance.

§ Conduct customer relationship review as it relates to Currency Transaction Reports (CTR), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and Suspicious Activity Report (SAR), and adhere to regulatory guidelines and the bank’s practices.

§ Reviews assigned cases with banking relationships and products and detects possible suspicious activity; conducts any needed research; and file SAR as needed and document the research and analysis performed.

§ Review and research suspect items and/or transactions and report suspicious activity as required.

§ Performs routine compliance tasks and deals with routine compliance issues, typically concerning documentation, reporting, etc.

§ Stay apprised of regulatory matters and developments through regular review of appropriate compliance publications and websites and by participating in relevant compliance conferences and other training events.

§ Comply with and follow all applicable policies and procedures as well as governing laws and regulations. This includes but is not limited to: performing all assigned duties under the compliance programs and related laws and regulations. Successfully completing all mandatory compliance training as assigned in a timely manner.

§ Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

§ Understanding of banking and financial services, including an understanding of the various types of products, services, and transactions that are typical for the branch.

§ Strong knowledge and experience with BSA regulations and related compliance requirements, including reporting and record retention requirements, and understanding of how changes in those regulations or compliance requirements affect Financial Crimes.

§ Excellent problem-solving, creative thinking, and listening skills.

§ Strong investigative research and documentation skills

§ Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

§ Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with time-critical situations.

§ Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office software products.

 

Education and Experience:

§ High School Diploma or equivalent.

§ 5+ years prior work experience in a financial institution with job specific work experience in BSA/AML
