Senior Accountant
Job Description
The Senior Accountant position is a key member of the accounting team and assists management in any manner regarding accounting and various assigned projects. This position is responsible for balancing and posting appropriate entries to the general ledger (GL); balancing the GL and financial reporting. Further, the Senior Accountant will play an integral role in reviewing the work of the staff accountants and collaborating with other business units on various job duties. The Senior Accountant will develop a solid understanding of business needs, strategy and products.

Essential Functions:
• Financial analysis, including but not limited to the following:
o Historical results analysis
o Budgeting and forecasting
o Financial reports and presentations, including Board, Asset-Liability Committee, and Audit Committee reporting
o Generating Excel models
• Prepare and review financial statements for accuracy.
• Complete account reconciliations on assigned general ledger accounts on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis, using third-party supporting documentation.
• Supervise work performed by staff accountants, including the review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Create and maintain job procedures for all primary job duties.
• Assist in updating Accounting Department policies.
• Accept, input, and verify corporate wires throughout the day.
• Assist in internal audit, external financial statement audit and regulatory examination processes.
• Assist in various corporate tax returns.
• Assist in the accurate preparation of financial institution regulatory reports, including Call Report (Form 5300) and Report of Deposits and Vault Cash (FR 2900).
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or other related field.
• CPA certification and license.
• Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting systems, and practices.
• 3+ years of experience in financial reporting, accounting or finance.
• Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
• Skills to operate in a self-managed environment.
• Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels.
• Ability to analyze and research with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must be excellent in use of business software applications, particularly Excel.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Applies knowledge of credit union systems, policies, and procedures.
• Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or other related field.
• Public accounting experience.
• Experience in credit union or financial services industry.
• Knowledge of Symitar software, Delta Community Credit Union products and policies.
