CU’s environment is built around a Jack Henry Symitar core hosted and operated on premise by the IT Infrastructure team. This infrastructure position, focused on financial core technologies, is part of a larger infrastructure team that delivers IT platforms for business success. The Senior System Administrator performs highly complex infrastructure support and projects involving design, analysis, maintenance, and implementation of financial core infrastructure systems including but not limited to Symitar, AppXtender, Image Center and OpCon.

What your day may include:

  • Modeling great customer service and challenging others to raise the bar when necessary.
  • Coaching and mentoring teammates, and working alongside the Service Desk, Cross Functional Teams, and IT Architecture to deliver quality technology solutions.
  • Working with vendors and partners for projects, support, and training.
  • Primary subject matter expert responsibilities for configuration, deployment, monitoring, and operations of Symitar core and business processes related to OpCon.
  • Solving escalated issues relating to the core and complex business processes.
  • Working out of a ticketing system, Kanban/Scrum/Agile style boards, and following change management processes.
  • Creating documentation for the core and related systems for Infrastructure and Service Desk teams.
  • Owning processes, systems, and incidents, and independently managing workload.
  • Understanding, recommending and adapting to new technology.
  • Formal training, cross-training and career development opportunities through exposure to a variety of technologies around the organization.
  • Providing reliable and secure technical operation and maintenance of servers, ensuring mission critical services are available 24×7. Participating in an on-call rotation.

What you bring to the team:

For SysAdmin III:

  • Minimum Six (6) years’ experience in a high-demand IT environment with continuously growing responsibilities
  • Certification or advanced training in one primary infrastructure system. Example: VMWare Certified Administrator or MCSA (or multiple MCP)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, human relations skills and problem-solving skills

For Sr. SysAdmin – Core:

  • Minimum Eight (8) years’ experience in a high-demand IT environment with continuously growing responsibilities
  • An Associate degree in a related discipline such as IT Systems Administration, Infrastructure or Networking may count as two (2) years toward the eight (8) years’ experience requirement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, human relations skills and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced skills in integrating systems and automating processes

Bonus Points if you have:

  • Six (6) years of experience as a Systems Administrator, ideally with a focus on financial systems and business processes
  • Completed academic degree in related IT discipline such as Systems Administration, Infrastructure or Networking
  • Experience with Active Directory, Linux/AIX/Unix, remote administration techniques and tools
  • Experience with financial/credit union technologies and FinTech SaaS providers
  • Experience working in a regulated environment
  • Progressive experience in the operations and management of Symitar core

*CU is currently hiring a SysAdmin III or Senior SysAdmin dependent on qualifications

Competitive pay for SysAdmin III: $78,693.28 – $118,039.92 annually, dependent on qualifications, plus an annual discretionary incentive plan and benefit package

Competitive pay for Senior SysAdmin Core: $91,582.08 – $137,373.12 annually, dependent on qualifications, plus an annual discretionary incentive plan and benefit package

  • The range above allows our employees room for growth through annual merit and other pay increase during their tenure in the position.
  • The target range for qualified new hires is typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant’s pay history into account.

This is a work from home/hybrid position with the exception of occasional on-site trainings, meetings, and specific organization events.

When you’d work: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, minimum 40 hours per week, plus on-call time, with scheduling flexibility required to meet service needs for this full time Exempt position
