Job Summary:

Provide technical and economic solutions related to mine development, mine planning, and mine reclamation activities. Interface as single point of accountability with consultants and vendors in the development of strategic plans and the execution of phased development of residual minerals pile. Ensure strict compliance with company environmental, health and safety standards and regulatory requirements to support Ruby Mountain mining and production operations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Plan and coordinate geotechnical & geophysical investigations, instrumentation programs, and in-situ & laboratory testing programs.

  • Develop or assist in developing operating and capital cost estimates for developing or existing mining projects

  • Provides expert engineering support to Ruby Mountain operations in development of future solutions/enhancements with the primary focus on proactive planning, well communicated and coordinated execution.

  • Project and resource management, specifically the capability to develop budgets, determine project scope, establish schedules, process appropriate paperwork, and collaborating with team members.

  • Work closely with and technically support the Quarry Team in the repair or development of the residual minerals pile.

  • Keeps abreast of engineering trends in the industry, mining process changes, suppliers and competitors regarding developing techniques, processes, and new technologies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • This position will have contractor/vendor management and coordination responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or closely related field such as geology.
  • Eight to ten years of relevant experience, preferably in a mining or equivalent environment designing or managing dam/embankment structures, storm water collection and management systems.
  • Strong project Management experience with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Special Requirements:

  • Driver’s license
  • Periodic overnight travel

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional organizational, technical, leadership, written and oral communication skills
  • Computer proficiency including AutoCAD, word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.
  • Analytical ability to gather and summarize data, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general reference periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to generate and interpret technical documents, specifically topographical maps
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of supervisors.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and concisely and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing, analyzing, and interpreting data and figures, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading.

Environmental Conditions:

The worker is occasionally subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions such as, noise, fumes, dust, oils, processing chemicals, moving parts and equipment, and exposure to outdoor weather elements.
